episode 159 | sowing the seeds
EPISODE 159 SHOW NOTES
In this episode I am mostly talking about random things and a bit of crochet too! Ha.
WEST YORKSHIRE SPINNERS CAL
This week I’ve mostly been working on part 1 of the West Yorkshire Spinners Bloom Blanket CAL designed by Zandra Rhodes.
I really enjoyed making the striped sections but struggled a bit with the granny borders! Yikes!
I’m using the recommended yarn from the yarn pack as gifted to me by West Yorkshire Spinners.
The yarn is their Colour Lab DK and it is 100% British Wool, 225m per 100g ball.
The blue is Harbour Blue and the two stripes are Zandra’s Rainbow and Forest Stripes.
I also just started on part 2 which is when all the flowers appear. The ones shown here are using Botanical Bloom, Sunset Bouquet and Woodland Awakening.
I’m using a 4.5mm hook.
WIPS
I worked on my October Socks using the lovely birthday yarn from Biffsugar Yarns. They are living in my Ollie & Bella pumpkin bag.
I also worked on my checkerboard stitch scarf using the free tutorial available here. You can see Amy’s version in her latest Noble Character Craft podcast here.
SOCK MAKEOVER
I’m planning on re-making my WYS Christmas socks from 2019 because they got felted in the wash and they had been a favourite of mine.
I had been planning on doing them in July but that month ended up being crazy so I’m going to attempt a do-over now.
The yarn is West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply in Robin (0941) and the contrast is Turmeric (0358) and they are living in a lovely Christmas bag from MadebyRachel on Etsy.
NEW
I received my Scrappy Yarn Advent from Indie Yarn Club - such a great idea which you can find here.
I also bought a new hook from Robyn at MElleHandmade on Etsy.
