EPISODE 113 SHOW NOTES
In this episode I’m wearing my knitted Six Wives Shawl which I love but am always overwhelmed by because the fuzzy mohair content makes it super swelteringly hot. This is my only pattern that has been translated into a second language and I have Emma of the Tricolibri podcast to thank for that because she translated the pattern into French for me! Quelle superstar!!!
FINISHED OBJECT
As requested by Betsy I made a bright pink acorn using the fabulous pattern from Jennifer Olivarez in Interweave Crochet, Fall 2020.
I used Stylecraft Special DK in the Fiesta colourway (shocking pink) to make this dinky acorn along with some Stylecraft Life DK in the Bark colourway (brown). I used a 4mm hook and for some reason both my current acorns are different sizes!!
I’m planning on making more pinky coloured acorns to create an acorn garland for Betsy’s room.
NEW WIPS
I have started a pair of October socks using the lovely orange toned sock yarn from Lisa’s Attik. I have paired her lovely yarn with some West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply in the Nutmeg colourway.
For these socks I’m trying out and loving a simple slip stitch pattern and if you would like to test knit these socks for me then drop me a line at emma@potterandbloom.com and I will put you on the testing list.
I am keeping these socks in my gorgeous gifted project bag from Sherrie at Ollie & Bella, you can watch her fabulous podcast here and more about that later…also the pretty gold stitch marker is from Beehive Yarns.
I also started my second ribbed hat using the lovely Jewelspun from Sirdar in the Sandstone Sunset colourway. This version is to pattern test before I launch the free pattern here on my website hopefully next week.
I’m in love with this yarn and must absolutely buy some more particularly in either the Daybreak Delta or Golden Feldspar colourways.
THE GREAT BRITISH SHAWLOGRAPHY
I almost finished Clue 2 of the 2021 Westknits mystery knitalong (MKAL2021) and I am still enjoying the excitement of it. I also think my colours worked out in a prettier way this week. Phew.
If you asked me to describe it this week I would say that it looked like my yarn stash barfed it up and I’m quite happy with that, weirdly.
The Great British indie dyed yarn I’m using for this project are:
Raven Red from Beehive Yarns
Carmen from Zakami
Like Gold Mustard from Dusty Dimples
Peach Melba from Birdstreet UK
Blossom Honey from Black Elephant
The bag that I’m storing this project in is the Plystre Project Backpack which I purchased here.
GIVEAWAY
This week I have a giveaway on the channel which can only be entered by leaving a comment under the video stating your favourite thing about October.
Seeing as I usually answer all comments, I will not reply to these comments so that you know I have counted it as an entry. This giveaway is entirely being run and paid for by me and is no way affiliated with any other organisation nor YouTube or Google. I will pick a winner using a random comment picker next Monday, 1st November 2021 at 8am GMT so any comments left after this time will not count.
I will post the giveaway prize of an autumnal project bag and a ball of West Yorkshire Spinners new Zandra Rhodes yarn in the Forest Stripes colourway worldwide but please be advised that you may be subject to customs fees that are out of my control and payable by you so only enter this giveaway if you are entirely happy to cover this cost should it arise.
If you want to subscribe to my newsletter and be the first to know about pattern launches etc, you can do so by filling in the form below, I’m not the most prolific of newsletter writers so you’ll never be inundated and you can of course unsubscribe at any time.
Enjoy the podcast folks and remember to love and sometimes hug your neighbours as often as you can without being weird.
