pattern launch | october socks

It’s October tomorrow and my October Socks pattern is now available to buy on Ravelry or Etsy.

These socks have been a long time in the making, so it’s lovely to get them out into the wild and show off the fabulous orange sock yarn that screams October.

I’ve made two samples for this pattern.

The first sample was the orange pair, made using the un-named yarn from Lisas Attik on Etsy.

The first sock didn’t turn out so great, I didn’t like the 2x2 rib because it looked too baggy with the slip stitch pattern and I felt that the foot section looked wonky because of the way the slip stitches landed and so I went about fixing things for my second sock.

I used 2.25mm needles, a toffee coloured contrast from West Yorkshire Spinners (Nutmeg 0630) for the cast on, heel and toe with a heel flap and gusset.

The second version was made using Rose Garden from Knit Cosmic Strings on Etsy.

For this pair I didn’t use a contrast, the yarn looks fabulous all by itself, and worked a shadow wrap heel. This pair was gifted to a friend (lucky her).
