pattern launch | zigzaggy socks

The Zigzaggy Socks started life as the plain old Zig Zag Socks but upgraded to the better name when I realised there were already 100 zig zag sock patterns on Ravelry! Ha!

Speckles and zig zags - not great pals

I had originally designed the socks as a quick make for Betsy using a sock set from Woolly Mama Yarns that she had liked.

The Popping Candy sock set originally came with a neon yellow contrast colour but I swapped it out for the bright pink at Betsy’s request and I love the combination but sadly the zig zag pattern is lost amongst all those pretty speckles and whilst they are nice socks and I’m sure Betsy will get a lot of wear out of them, I was disappointed that you couldn’t see the pattern texture.

So I decided to make a pair in a solid colour yarn to see how that would turn out and blimey, the difference is incredible.

I can NOT believe how amazing the pattern looks in a solid colour yarn!

Now that’s what I call a zig zag pattern…..

Now that’s what I call a zig zag pattern…..

I used Scheepjes Metropolis in the Bangalore (light pink) and Bogota (dark pink) colourways and 2.25mm needles. These socks are worked over 60 stitches and usually I would go up to a 2.5mm needle but for this pattern it doesn’t seem to be necessary (I’m not sure why, they just work up quite loose).

The officially launch took place via my mailing list and that is the only place where you get early notification of product launches and a launch discount. If you want to subscribe you can fill in the box below noting that it’s completely free, I don’t bombard you with messages (I’m too lazy) and you can unsubscribe at any time.

I hope that you like my new pattern, you can buy it now on either Ravelry or Etsy for £2.00 and if you fancy it please share your Zigzaggy Socks with me on instagram using the hashtag #zigzaggysocks or #potterandbloom.

Happy knitting lovely people.
