episode 79 | new year, new mood

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020

Happy New Year my loves, wishing the very best for you and your loved ones now, this year and always.

My word for this year is TRUST and I will be writing a separate blog post about that because I really ramble on about it in this podcast and make no sense at all, plus I will be blogging about my new colour palette for 2020 based on the exterior of 99 Juta Street in South Africa.

EPISODE 79 SHOW NOTES

FINISHED

My Christmas socks are finished and amazing and I love them an awful lot. What is not to love about a pair of socks that are the same colours as my second favourite garden bird, the robin coming in only slightly behind my favourite blackbird.

I used the Christmas limited edition Signature 4ply sock yarn from West Yorkshire Spinners in the Robin colourway, you can find it here and it sure is lovely.

I’ve combined mine with another West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply, the colour Turmeric (358) which you can find here which I’ve used for the cuffs, heels and toes.

I also finished Betsy’s Christmas socks (pictured above) using the new Regia Pairfect for Kids in the colour Hilde (02983) but I think the yarn would work better for kids with smaller feet because she’s ended up with a super long toe section which looks a bit funny but I don’t mind all that much - and she doesn’t care at all of course, the only thing that matters is that they are pink!

Tiilda Mittens - I used the second (spare) skein of Malabrigo Chunky in the Olive colourway to make myself a pair of mitten and I love this pattern which is free on Raverlry and you can find it here.

WORKS IN PROGRESS

I’m still working on the Waves and Bobble Sweater from @monpetitviolon although I’ve hit a bit of a brick wall with the pattern because it doesn’t look big enough, not at all - yikes!

I’m going to try a good wet blocking and then carry on from there.

I’m making the size 7-8yrs and using Socks Yeah DK in the colour Prunus with a 4mm hook.

I’ve started a new pair of socks for Darren using my Dotty Socks pattern and some Regia Design Line 4ply in the Kaffe Fassett Jewel colourway (03773).

And also a pair of socks for me using the limited edition Christmas colourway yarn from @stitcherstees and @vickibrowndesigns.

NEW AND NOTABLE

I have got a new jumper project planned using Malabrigo Sock in the Pearl colourway and some floof of the same name - more on that in the next episode.

I am still working on the knitted version of my Six Wives Shawl and I hope that will be ready to launch in February (fingers crossed).
