episode 152 | burning bridges

EPISODE 152 SHOW NOTES

Today I’m wearing my Riveret top, a pattern by Merrian Holland for Pom Pom Quarterly, Spring 2016.

I made the top in 2016 and wear it quite a bit in the summer months, it’s been washed a few times too and kept it’s shape really well.

I used Wendy Supreme Luxury Silk DK in the Yellow colourway and I think it’s all the silk nubby bits that make the yarn seem like it has different colours and textures in it. Very lovely cotton yarn but I’ve gone looking for it and it seems that is has been discontinued, although I did find a seller on Etsy who has some in stock and I’m eyeing up the Spice colourway now!

24 Days Crochet Cowl

PATTERN LAUNCH

I launched my 24 Days Crochet Cowl pattern this week, complete with my Jackie front cover pose - honestly I need to get out a bit more eh?

The pattern is available to buy now on either Ravelry or Etsy and you can find out more details here.

So Spooky So Faded

WIPS

I’m loving how quickly my So Faded is working up and I’ve just joined in the third and final colour.

It’s living in the first ever project bag I bought at Yarndale 2016 from Clare at Birdstreet Yarn.

I’m using the recommended needles and making a size 3.

The yarns I’m using are:

First Colour - Unregistered Animagus by A Homespun House - a Harry Potter club colour that I won in Amy’s (@noblecharactercrafts) 2021 make nine makealong.

Second Colour - Aunt Marge & Ripper by Paper Stories - again Harry Potter themed!

Third Colour - Stan Shunpike by Paper Stories - it’s basically a Harry Potter Halloween Sweater at this point!

WIPS

I’m continuing to work on my random granny square project, mainly because it brings me SO MUCH JOY!

I’ve used this DK weight calendar from Indie Yarn Club so much; for both the knitted and crocheted 24 days cowls plus my secret advent project for this year.

Now I’ve just got tiny amounts left so I decided to use them up in a simple granny square project and it is really making me so happy. I’m just going to see how many I can make with the scraps I have left, I’ve added in some additional Stylecraft Special DK to make the colours go a little further too, and hopefully can come up with enough to make a top. We shall see.

WIPS

I’ve also been working on my Most Ardently socks this week, they are a fabulous design by Kelly of Row, Row & Kades.

The yarn I’m using is Peony from Wild Rose Yarn and they are living in my Kelly Connor Designs frilly bag - a double Kelly project.

RANDOM STUFF

The sock competition that I mention is called Sock Madness and Kiko of Kiko’s Knitting Podcast usually always takes part, have a look at some of the amazingly intricate sock patterns (and heels) from this year’s competition here.

I’m going to re-write my Conker Mitts pattern this year. It’s always popular at this time of year and I would like to have a few different colours of the mitts as samples - the original sample will be hard to beat though eh?

The original sample used Krityum Hand Dyed BFL yarn in the colour Thums Up and it’s such a lovely yarn with an amazing texture and stitch definition.

The two yarns I’m considering for second samples are Drops Alpaca in Wheat Field (9029) - I could swear it was called something else when I bought it last year!! and Black Elephant Merino Singles in Bridge Burning.

And if you want to be kept up to date about my product launches and discount codes, they are sent via my newsletter so subscribe and be the first to know about everything and get 25% off any one of my patterns.
