Mutant Mermaid Love Island Socks

FINISHED

I finished my Love Island socks and this week I will be double checking and re-uploading the pattern so this is your last call to get the pattern for free, okay? :D

The project has been living in my beautiful Kelly Connor bag and I used the Mutant Mermaid sock set from Woolly Mama Yarns which is just fabulous, her speckling is superb!

The original Love Island pattern is from 2019 and was inspired by the Love Island mini set from Alison at Biffsugar Yarns.

The pattern was originally designed using 2.5mm needles and they are a bit big for me so am trying out 2.25mm needles this time, and then it will be available for sale through my usual channels.

If you get in there quickly, you can still get the pattern for free here but I will be removing this free link over the next couple of weeks.

My So Faded is So Much Fun!!

I’m loving it and enjoy how quickly it works up even though it’s fingering weight yarn.

It’s living in the first ever project bag I bought at Yarndale 2016 from Clare at Birdstreet Yarn.

I’m using the recommended needles and making a size 3 - the striped version I did back in the summertime was a size 4 and I wanted a snugger fit for this one.

The yarns I’m using are:

First Colour - Unregistered Animagus by A Homespun House - a Harry Potter club colour that I won in Amy’s (@noblecharactercrafts) 2021 make nine makealong.

Second Colour - Aunt Marge & Ripper by Paper Stories - again Harry Potter themed!

Third Colour - Stan Shunpike by Paper Stories - it’s basically a Harry Potter Halloween Sweater at this point!

Spooky So Faded

NEW

I’ve started a new, random, project to use up the last of my yarn advent calendar from 2021.

I’ve used this DK weight calendar from Indie Yarn Club so much; for both the knitted and crocheted 24 days cowls plus my secret advent project for this year.

Now I’ve just got tiny amounts left so I decided to use them up in a simple granny square project and it is really making me so happy. I’m just going to see how many I can make with the scraps I have left, I’ve added in some additional Stylecraft Special DK to make the colours go a little further too, and hopefully can come up with enough to make a top. We shall see.

NEW

I finally got my hands on the new West Yorkshire Spinners Christmas yarn, this year it’s called Gingerbread (1109) and it really is very pretty.

The yarn comes as usual with a pattern from @winwickmum, this year I think there are four patterns in total (from the looks of the promo) and the yarn is looking great with either red or green as contrast colours.

I usually start my WYS Christmas socks on the 1st December and work on them throughout the month and this year will be no different. Will pop them somewhere and try not to think festive thoughts until the appropriate time!

I also purchased some self striping yarn from The Yarn Badger. Have wanted some of her yarn for ages and initially had gone to her website to try and get my hands on her striped advent yarn. No luck on that, I’m always too late, but I did buy some really super bright neon yarn called Neon Steps and whilst I love it, I don’t think it’s very Christmassy so might save it for a summer sock project next year.

As mentioned in this episode, I launched the 24 Day Crochet Cowl and you can now buy the pattern on either Ravelry or Etsy.

And if you want to be kept up to date about my product launches and discount codes, they are sent via my newsletter so subscribe and be the first to know about everything and get 25% off any one of my patterns. You can do so by filling in the form below, I’m not the most prolific of newsletter writers so you’ll never be inundated and you can of course unsubscribe at any time.

Enjoy the episode folks and keep watching to find out if I get pulled into the West Knits madness again this year or not (looks likely doesn’t it).
