Big day today!

Big, big old election day and one that will impact us here in the UK for decades to come. Hoping and praying for anything that isn’t a win for the disgusting Conservatives, I don’t care who gets in as long as it isn’t them.

EPISODE 78 SHOW NOTES

FINISHED

Man Hat - for my awesome man, am using the free Man Hat pattern by Haven Ashley on Ravelry and Malabrigo Chunky in the Olive colourway (it is VERY nice). Keeping this project safe in my Fringe Supply Company field bag (not sure where I got it from in the UK) which has an I love crochet pin on it from Lanaboushop on Etsy as well as my beloved Don’t be a Dick pin from Hey Jay Yarns.

NEW PATTERN

My London Blanket is now out there and live on Ravelry. You can get it for free for the whole of December so hurry and click here if you want to grab yourself a copy.

The nice thing about the pattern is all the different options you have from just one pattern repeat, the possibilities are endless and I’m not just saying that either, you really can go to town with this simple little pattern, from mini, to midi, to maxi squares, and I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.

For my main sample (shown above) I used Stylecraft Special DK and in my mini sample (shown on the left) I used Sirdar Snuggly DK.

Do note however that any weight yarn works with this pattern and I also have a version that uses fingering weight scraps, just make sure you use the correct hook size for your yarn and don’t mix your yarn weights.

WORKS IN PROGRESS

My Christmas socks are halfway done, might actually get to wear these ones on the big day!

I’m using the Christmas limited edition Signature 4ply sock yarn from West Yorkshire Spinners in the Robin colourway, you can find it here and it sure is lovely.

I’ve combined mine with another West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply, the colour Turmeric (358) which you can find here which I’ve used for the cuffs, heels and toes.

I’m also making Betsy a pair of Christmas socks using the new Regia Pairfect for Kids in the colour Hilde (02983) but I’m not quite sure how I feel about that yarn right now, I’m not sure it’s going so well because Betsy has a fifty-something stitch sock already, it may be that the yarn is better suited for a smaller stitch count sock.

I’ve just started making the Waves and Bobble Sweater from @monpetitviolon (I love it) and using my new Pedro’s Plaques Bumble Bee Hook (also love, LOVE it). I’m using Socks Yeah DK in the colour Prunus which I’m actually not that keen on (it’s a bit stringy), but I do think the colour is fabulous.

NEW AND NOTABLE

I’m loving my @biffsugaryarns advent calendar SO much and have started a project with them, just not sure about it right now, having a right old dither about it because I want whatever I make with them to be as pretty as the yarn is, know what I mean?

I also managed to snag the Christmas special from @stitcherstees which was a rainbow edition of their Yarnivore project bag together with the most epic rainbow sparkle yarn from @vickibrowndesigns (one half of the stitchers team), hurrah, I love them both so much.

Enjoy the podcast folks, have a wonderful Christmas and don’t forget to be awesome.
