EPISODE 88 SHOW NOTES

FINISHED OBJECTS

I’ve finished my gorgeous Birds of a Feather shawl, pattern by Andrea Mowry, and I blocked it and it grew. It grew, and grew and grew so much and now I feel like I’m being smothered by it when I’m wearing it! Ha! I do love it though and I think it’s definitely one of the prettiest thing I’ve ever knit.

The shawl is made using two skeins of fingering weight yarn and I used Sprinkles from @knitcosmicstrings together with two balls of kidsilk mohair, although I used three balls of Rowan Kidsilk Haze in the Grace colourway. I also used 4mm needles.

FINISHED OBJECTS

I also finished my Swords Socks sample and they are lovely even if they don’t match because I made a mistake on them. They are made using Drops Nord in the Pearl Grey Mix (03) colourway and they are currently being tested (I think my testers are almost finished now) and this week the pattern will be tech edited to get ready for a launch in December.

WORKS IN PROGRESS

I’m also making a second pair of Swords Socks because I wanted to see what they would look like in two colours. I’m using the Florence Sock Set from @biffsugaryarns which is just lovely and the perfect colours for autumn and I’m keeping this project in my lovely autumn bag from Gina @rosiebulldesigns - I love her project bags and especially her tags.

Kinross Shawl @rowanyarns

Kinross Shawl @rowanyarns

I’m still working on and loving my Kinross shawl from the latest Rowan magazine Rowan 68 and it is very soothing for my soul because the pattern is so simple and the yarn is so soft.

I love the pattern by Georgia Farrell and I especially love the yarn, Rowan Classic Alpaca in the colours Cinnamon, Soft Satin and Willow.

Bonfire Night Socks

Bonfire Night Socks

I’ve changed stitch pattern for my Bonfire Night socks, the Prairie Socks pattern from Kay Jones is so pretty but the yarn didn’t do it justice, I think I need to use a very pale coloured sock yarn to show off that stitch pattern in it’s best light. The yarn is Alison’s @biffsugaryarns Bonfire Night Mystery Skein and I’m keeping the project in my new ‘Barty’ bag from Eva @cocoandflora.

NEW AND NOTABLE

I’ve started a new project this week, a pair of welly socks for Betsy using the new sock yarns from Rico Design, Superba Vintage 4ply. I’m using the Pink Mix for Betsy’s socks and they are rather lovely and fluffy feeling.

I also received the most beautiful care box of yarn from Sirdar. I will be creating another post with links to all the yarns together with swatches but for reference I showed; Saltaire, Haworth Tweed, Country Classic, Snuggly Replay, Shawlie, Adventure and the rather fabulous Jewelspun.

And finally, those fluffy Christmas baubles! I will be putting the pattern up for them this week so watch this space. I used a variety of laceweight mohair yarns together with some King Cole Cosmos in the colour Stardust (1099) and Twilleys Goldfingering in the Antique Gold (4) colourway.

Enjoy the podcast folks, and don’t forget to be awesome.
