EPISODE 149 SHOW NOTES

This week I’m finally back in my old spot and everything seems right with the world again.

I’m quite excited about the Hobonichi reveal, you can find out why I’m so excited about this amazing diary/journal here.

I’m also excited about the West Yorkshire Spinners Christmas yarn announcement (it’s still August)! and I’m not sure if I’m actually excited about the West Knits KAL this year after last year’s hideous joke on all knitters everywhere but I’m sure I’ll get swept up in it all anyway, I will (try to) resist!

Moana Socks

FINISHED

I finished my Moana socks and they are looking lovely. The yarn is the ever-popular Moana from Somerset Yarns which flies out of her shop as soon as it comes in.

The pattern I’m using is my Dotty Socks pattern, it has a lovely purl bump texture and they work up super quickly, I think because it’s an 8 row repeat. You can buy the Dotty Socks pattern on Ravelry or Etsy.

I used 2.25mm needles, worked a shadow wrap heel and I have 44g of yarn left.

Buddleia Socks

HALF FINISHED

I also finished one of my Thistle Thorn Socks, a fabulous lacy sock pattern from Jane Burns Designs that featured in the Scheepjes Yarn book 11.

For these socks I’m using Cascade 220 Fingering in the Goldenrod colourway which doesn’t have any nylon and is therefore proving to be a bit of a struggle to wear!

But, the pattern looks SO lovely in a solid colour yarn and I do think socks without nylon last a long time because my Buddleia Socks were made using the same yarn (Cascade 220 fingering) in the Doeskin Heather colourway and they are still going strong.

NEW

I’m about to start my So Faded after asking you all if I should go dark to light or light to dark. The vote was a dead heat (of course) so I asked Darren to be the deciding vote and he went with light to dark mainly because I told him too after reading the comment from Madison which said that eyes are drawn to lighter colours on a fade (thank you Madison)!

I also started something new. I’m keeping it in my new Kelly Connor bag and it’s a pair of my Love Island socks using the Mutant Mermaid sock set from Woolly Mama Yarns.

The pattern is from 2019, oh the halcyon days BC, and was inspired by the Love Island mini set from Alison at Biffsugar Yarns. I’m just re-working it to check though the pattern and re-write if necessary and then it will be available for sale through my usual channels.

Notable mentions in this video are Emma’s podcast here and Beth from Beehive Yarns new podcast here.
