Modified Rua by Sarah Hatton

WHAT I’M WEARING

Today I’m wearing my much modified Rua top.

It’s a free pattern from Rowan by Sarah Hatton and I’ve made mine much shorter - I like my summer tops cropped for wearing with skirts - and added longer sleeves.

The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn, I’m not sure what yarn I used, it was old stash, but it’s quite a deep and yellowy cream so difficult to pair up with a vest but today I just thought you hadn’t seen the Rua top before and wore it with a white vest anyway.

Crochet version of the 24 days cowl

FINISHED

I finished both of my crocheted 24 days cowl this week and I think I’ve finally sorted out the sizing and fabric situation.

I’ve made a third version using JUST Stylecraft Special DK and a 5mm hook instead of a 4mm hook.

This time the fabric is working up lovely and loose and so I’m updating the pattern and getting it re-tested to see if I can get this launched some time soon.

I’m also working on a blanket version of this stitch pattern, am currently stuck on colours.

WIPS

I half finished my Moana socks and they are looking lovely. The yarn is the ever-popular Moana from Somerset Yarns which flies out of her shop as soon as it comes in.

The pattern I’m using is my Dotty Socks pattern, it has a lovely purl bump texture and they work up super quickly for some reason, a joy to knit.

I’m using 2.25mm needles and have just started the second sock. I’m keeping this project in my new and beautiful bag from Kelly Connor Designs.

I also turned the heel on my Thistle Thorn Socks, a fabulous lace pattern from Jane Burns Designs. For these socks I’m stupidly not using the recommended 2.5mm needles (duh) and consequently I can’t get my feet in them easily. Also I’m using Cascade 220 Fingering in the Goldenrod colourway and I don’t think it’s the stretchiest of yarns out there, it doesn’t have any nylon so probably not the best choice I could have made for these socks!!

NEW

I worked up a swatch from my planned So Faded sweater, I’m not sure which way round to work the yarns, light to dark or dark to light and I need you help in telling me which way round to go.

The yarns are all old stash, all weirdly Harry Potter themed, and no longer available but for reference they are:

Lightest (which I won in Amy’s 2021 Make Nine KAL is A Homespun House, Unregistered Animagus.

Middle is Paper Stories

Dark is Paper Stories
