episode 147 | hermeline and fanny

EPISODE 147 SHOW NOTES

This week I’m swapping my filming day to a Thursday so I have slightly less content for you and really difficult lighting!

This did mean however that I had enough time to show you all the lovely patterns in the Phildar summer crochet book 2022, including my favourite, Robe Fanny.

Sadly all the patterns are written in French so I don’t think I’ll be making anything but there’s enough inspiration in there to keep me going for a good while though and I think it’s their best summer crochet book yet.

Here is a link to the book on their website with pictures of all the patterns so you can be further inspired too.

Sac Hermeline by Phildar

FINISHED

With Helianne finally finished, I had quite a bit of the yarn left over so I decided to make a companion project, the Sac Hermeline, just because I could, and when it’s hot, all I want to do is crochet with cool cotton anyway.

The pattern is again from Phildar’s 2018 summer crochet magazine and uses the same yarn as Helianne, Phildar Phil Coton 3 for the solid colours and Phildar Multico for the mixed and I used the recommended 3mm hook.

It’s a really simple construction, front, back plus two handles, I did make up the joining because I can’t read French, I used a single crochet join and sewed the handles into place.

I love how she turned out.

But I do think the colours are brought more alive with the black yarn though, it does look slightly less attractive than Helianne because of that, do you know what I mean?

Crochet version of the 24 days cowl

WIPS

I spent quite a bit of time on my crochet 24 days cowl this week.

I’d become a bit frustrated with the pattern because I just wasn’t getting consistent sizing so I’m finishing off this purple version - using Stylecraft Special DK in the Magenta colourway - and then I’m going to work a final version using just Stylecraft Special DK.

The hook I’m using is from Pedro’s Plaques on Etsy, not only is it beautiful but it’s super comfortable to use too, hurrah!

This is so I can get a final sizing and gauge for the pattern and the other thing I’m doing to help that is use a 5mm hook to try and loosen the fabric out a bit.

I also showed you the shadow wrap heel on my Moana socks but stupidly forgot to press record and lost a whole bunch of footage, I will have more to show on them next week and the yarn is Moana from Somerset Yarns and it’s one of her most popular repeatable colourways but you’ll have to get in their quick because it was there last week and isn’t this week - I think you’ve all been shopping perhaps :D

NEW

I did buy a couple of new things, I felt it was needed and I loved this pretty pink yarn from Elizabeth Pawle which is called Pop. I bought three so I can make another So Faded top in a solid colour.

I also bought a new and very beautiful frilly project bag from Kelly Connor Designs.
