pattern launch | princess polka dots
This represents so much work over such a long period of time and I am super happy to have finally reached the finish line.
The blanket was designed by my daughter Betsy when she was 8 years old.
She had been to an art club that was about the renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and all the kids came out waving these dotty designs and I mentioned to Betsy that they looked like crochet patterns.
She then proceeded to produce a whole range of designs, of course I joined in, and this design was my favourite. I love the way she’s mixed pastel rainbow colours together with some blacks and greys and the only thing I changed from her original design was the amount of black and grey stripes, simply because I couldn’t fit them in, the blanket was already huge!
I used Stylecraft Special DK for this blanket, I wanted it to be easy to crochet, easy to wash and fairly cost effective to make, especially because it is so oversized.
You can of course choose any yarn that suits (or you have in stash), it works equally as well with any DK weight yarn and is easily converted to a different weight as long as you change your hook size accordingly and note that this will significantly change the sizing.
All the yarn details can be found on the purchase pages on Ravelry and Etsy.
As usual the officially launch took place via my mailing list and that is the only place where you get early notification of product launches and a launch discount.
The discount for this pattern is particularly generous because I’ve priced this pattern higher than usual because of the amount of work that went into it. My tech editor Lynne and I spent so much time going back and forth to make sure that we included as much information in the pattern as possible. Lynne also made me up charts for all elements of the design and I’m so grateful to her for editing and testing the pattern.
The pattern includes the written pattern in both UK and US terminology, charts, layouts, totals and tips for modification. For example if you don’t like joining as you go, you can always sew or crochet the hexis together when you’ve finished crocheting them.
I’ve also included for the first time a new subscriber discount. So if you want to purchase the pattern then sign up for my newsletter first and I will send you a new subscriber discount code which will be valid to use with this pattern (or any of my patterns) for one time only. You can subscribe by filling in the box below noting that it’s completely free and you can unsubscribe at any time.
